Charles Edward Williams's Lion's Paw certificates and photographs, 1945-1947.

The collection contains a certificate for Charles Edward Williams initiating him into the Lion's Paw senior society, a black-and-white photograph of six male students in caps and gowns seated around a small table, a 5-1/4 x 4-3/4 inch blue and white Lion's Paw card with the name Ed Williams printed in ink, a mimeographed receipt acknowledging the financial gift of Lion's Paw members to purchase Mount Nittany, a black-and-white photograph of Mount Nittany as photographed October 16, 1947 by Robert Beese, and an accompanying card noting this is print no. 152 of a special reproduction of Mt. Nittany awarded to H. Edward Williams, a member of Lion's Paw, Class of 1944.

Lion's Paw Senior Society, the oldest student leadership honorary dedicated to serving the University, was formally founded in 1908. Charles Edward Williams, of Stroudsburg, Pa., Penn State class of 1944 (agricultural engineering), was a member of the Lion's Paw senior society. Lion's Paw was founded in 1908 by 10 male seniors. Since 1945 the Lion's Paw Alumni Society has been working to preserve Mount Nittany and now owns 525 acres.
